Local triggers
- Mass forwarding during Hajj and Ramadan windows.
- Modded WhatsApp clients distributed on Arabic-language forums.
- Expat recruiter spam patterns from large WhatsApp groups.
- Seasonal retail blasts from WhatsApp Business numbers without documented opt-in.
- VoIP-only periods where users tried to bypass network restrictions, leaving session anomalies.
A clean Saudi appeal (English)
Hello WhatsApp Support,
My account (+966 XXXXXXXXX) was banned and I would like to request a review. I use WhatsApp for family, work, and a small business that serves customers who specifically asked to receive updates from me. I do not use any unofficial WhatsApp client.
I believe my number may have been flagged because [I sent many similar promotional messages during the recent Ramadan / Hajj period / I forwarded a long chain to many groups within a short window]. I understand that this can look like spam.
Going forward I will:
- Stop forwarding the same message rapidly to many groups.
- Stop broadcasts to contacts who have not actively opted in.
- Use WhatsApp Business with a clear opt-in flow for any marketing.
- Only use the official WhatsApp client.
Please review my account. Thank you. What not to do
- Don’t install Arabic-language mod APKs from forums; they are GB / FM repackaged.
- Don’t spam Request Review every few hours; one calm submission is enough.
- Don’t pay third-party "WhatsApp unban" services advertised on Snapchat or TikTok.

Frequently asked questions
Was WhatsApp ever fully blocked in Saudi Arabia?
Voice and video calling on WhatsApp were restricted in Saudi Arabia for years and were officially allowed again in 2017. Messaging has been available throughout. Network-level restrictions are separate from account bans.
What ban triggers are specific to Saudi Arabia?
Mass-forwarding during Hajj and Ramadan, expat-driven job-spam patterns from large WhatsApp recruiter groups, modded WhatsApp installs widely shared via Arabic-language forums, and very aggressive WhatsApp Business messaging during seasonal retail campaigns.
Should I appeal in Arabic or English?
Either is accepted. English is the safer default for clarity. Arabic is fully supported and may feel more natural for personal accounts.
My number was banned during a Ramadan promotional push. What do I write?
Acknowledge the seasonal push, explain that you sent many similar messages in a short window, and commit to documented opt-in and an opt-out option going forward.
How long does the appeal take?
Usually 24–72 hours for personal accounts. Business / WABA appeals may take several business days; involve your BSP if active.
